The arena grew quiet.

The remaining two Vipers recovered. They turned, guns glowing hot.

Three shots. The first took off its plasma gun. The second cracked its armor. The third—the third found the fuel cell.

But Leo was tired of running.

Leo fired his rocket. Not at the Viper. At the rusted water tower behind it.

He checked his ammo: 14 cannon shells, 3 rockets. His special ability (every tank had one) was a "Smoke Screen," which in reality was just a hacked-together oil-burner that made him invisible for 3 seconds. Pathetic compared to the Vipers' "Overcharge" that doubled their fire rate.

He could run. That was the smart play. Run, hide, pick off a straggler, upgrade his tires.
