They stood there for a moment, the air a bit thick with awkwardness. Then, Taro suggested they sit down on a nearby bench to make sure she was alright.
"Akira," she replied with a smile.
Akira shook her head, still feeling a bit flustered. "No, I'm fine. Thanks to you, actually. I just...I'm a bit clumsy, that's all."
Taro chuckled, looking relieved. "I guess so. I'm Taro, by the way."
Akira had always been a bit of a clumsy person. She often tripped over her own feet or bumped into people on the street. One sunny afternoon, as she was walking through the park, lost in her thoughts, she didn't notice a loose paving stone on her path. Her foot caught on it, and she felt herself tumbling forward.
To her surprise, it was Taro, a classmate from school she had never really talked to before. He had a friendly smile on his face and sparkling eyes that made her feel at ease.
Taro's face also turned red, and he looked down, seemingly unsure of how to react. "I'm so sorry," he muttered quickly. "Are you okay? I didn't hurt you, did I?"
Their encounter, which started with a clumsy fall and an accidental touch, turned out to be the beginning of a beautiful friendship.
