Sam reviews the 4K footage on Maya’s monitor. She freezes a frame. In the background, beyond the visible spectrum, are dozens of ghosts they’ve never seen. Ghosts in 18th-century servant uniforms. A child holding a candle that doesn’t exist. A man in a WWII pilot suit, his head bowed. No trickery

The documentary director, (sharp, cynical, carrying a spectral camera that records in raw, uncompressed light), sets up her equipment. She’s a non-believer. "Ghosts are just pattern recognition in low-resolution data," she tells Sam. "But 4K? 4K eliminates the shadows where people imagine things."
