Sam deletes the master file. But one frame remains—a single 4K image of all the ghosts standing together in the library. No shadows. No trickery. Just eight dead people, arms around each other, laughing at a joke only they can hear.

Maya, reviewing the raw data, discovers something impossible. The 4K footage shows that the "ghost mother" isn’t tied to the property. She’s tied to Hetty’s guilt . Every time Hetty feels shame, her mother manifests stronger. The resolution is so high that the camera is capturing emotional residue —literal ghost-guilt made of photons. ghosts s04e01 4k

Sam reviews the 4K footage on Maya’s monitor. She freezes a frame. In the background, beyond the visible spectrum, are dozens of ghosts they’ve never seen. Ghosts in 18th-century servant uniforms. A child holding a candle that doesn’t exist. A man in a WWII pilot suit, his head bowed. No trickery

The documentary director, (sharp, cynical, carrying a spectral camera that records in raw, uncompressed light), sets up her equipment. She’s a non-believer. "Ghosts are just pattern recognition in low-resolution data," she tells Sam. "But 4K? 4K eliminates the shadows where people imagine things."
