Lupus Rash Pictures May 2026

Lupus is a chronic autoimmune disease where the body's immune system mistakenly attacks its own healthy tissues. While lupus can affect many parts of the body (joints, kidneys, blood cells, brain), the skin is one of the most commonly involved organs. In fact, about two-thirds of people with lupus will develop some form of skin rash.

The following text describes the characteristics of lupus rashes to aid in recognition. It is not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Skin conditions can look very different from person to person. If you have a persistent or worrying rash, consult a dermatologist or rheumatologist. Do not rely on pictures alone for self-diagnosis.
