During the wedding rehearsal between Aurora and Phillip, Ingrith fires a spinning, iron-weighted weapon at Maleficent, seriously wounding her. Then she orders a full attack on the Moors, capturing many fairies and creatures.

Queen Ingrith is secretly building a powerful iron weapon (iron burns fairies). Her real goal is to start a war and wipe out all magical creatures. She tricks the human kingdom into believing the fairies attacked first.

Setting the Scene Years after the first film, Aurora is Queen of the Moors (the magical forest) and is happily in love with Prince Phillip. Maleficent is still the powerful, horned fairy protector of the Moors, but she feels like an outsider now that humans and fairies live side by side.
