The only light is the blue flicker of a muted TV. Eli (17) sits on a moldy couch, surrounded by empty soda cans and a single sneaker he lost the will to find. His phone buzzes for the 47th time. MOM [O.S.]: “Eli, please just come upstairs. We can talk about the hospital.”

Eli snaps: “You mean stop hiding from YOU.”
Some secrets drown you. Others teach you to swim. “Let’s run away
Maya: “You don’t have to swim. You just have to show up. And so do I.”
Then—a knock. Not on the basement door. On the wall. Just… up
